Current collector

A device provides the process of transmitting electricity through a sliding contact.

The current collector must ensure the transfer of current through a sliding contact up to 3.2 kA per rail lines that electrified on direct current with a voltage of 3 kV and up to 1.2 kA - on alternating current with a voltage of 25 kV.

The main requirement for the current collector is to ensure stable pressing in the sliding contact, since an increase in pressing leads to increased mechanical wear. A decrease leads avulsions, i.e., to increased electrical wear of the contact wire and current collecting elements.

Similar functions perform current collectors urban ERS.

The advantages of our current collectors:

  • Permissible continuous current 3200A;
  • Low reduced mass;
  • High transverse and longitudinal stiffness eliminate resonance phenomena during the movement of ERS;
  • An opportunity of using on ERS with speeds of up to 160 km/h;
  • Exploitation in the temperature range from -50 to +50 °С;
  • Low life of cycle cost.

Current-collector system

A current collector for railway electric rolling stock consists of the following elements:

Base

Serve to mount the current collector on insulators mounted on the roof of an electric rolling stock.

The current collector frame

Is the moveable part of the current collector, which provides vertical movement of the runner and transmits the pressing force from the lifting mechanism to the runner of the current collector.

Runner of the current collector

Is a spring borne upper node of the current collector, interacting with the contact wire.

A current collecting element

Is a runner's element, which provides a sliding contact on the wire.

Сarriage

Is a сurrent collector element, which provides the cushioning of the runner relative to the frame.

Lifting mechanism

Serve for lifting the runner from the folded position to the contact wire and taking over the loads acting on the runner.
